The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation, in connection with Teammates for Kids, hosted its annual Summer Academy in June for children from the Lena Pope Home in Ft. Worth. More than 150 children visited Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, beginning their Summer Academy experience by playing in the Rangers’ new indoor Kids Zone. Then, they learned some of the finer points of etiquette during a special lunch in the Diamond Club. They also visited FOX Sports Southwest and learned how to make a commercial. Their day concluded with a behind-the-scenes tour at the ballpark.
The purpose of the Summer Academy, which began 12 years ago with support from Teammates, is to give children the opportunity to continue learning during the summer months and gain new experiences by participating in a week-long summer camp that includes various activities.
