As Garth Brooks' World Tour continues to sweep across North America, so do the youth sports camps he hosts with Teammates for Kids in each tour city. Last weekend in Des Moines, 100 boys and girls ages 9-13 were invited to a football camp at the Valley Community Center. The coaching staff included NFL star Dallas Clark, formerly with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Baltimore Ravens, and Indianapolis Colts--with whom he won the Super Bowl. Clark has been a Teammate since 2010.

Rain drove the camp indoors, but the kids' enthusiasm wasn't dampened a bit as they ran drills and played scrimmages. The young athletes, who attended the camp at no cost, represented the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Des Moines, Children & Family Urban Movement, Neighborhoods of Oakridge, and Tiger Junior Football.

Teammates For Kids presents the Good Teammate Award at each youth sports camp they sponsor. The award recognizes the athletes who best demonstrate the traits of a Total Teammate, including leadership, toughness, unselfishness, and respect for the game and all of its participants. In Des Moines, Good Teammate Awards were presented to: Cash Halverson, age 9; Hunter Clark, age 11; and Larrhea Holmes, age 12.

Teammates will continue to partner with Brooks to hold youth sports camps at every city on his World Tour. Brooks and Teammate athletes in each city will volunteer their time to coach kids in football, basketball, baseball, hockey, or soccer.
